Siemens 22010 - Block spindle actual gear stage differs from requested gear
ALARM 22010 indicates a mismatch between the NC-requested gear stage and the actual gear stage reported by the PLC after a gear change cycle completes. This occurs when the spindle gearbox fails to engage the commanded gear stage, typically due to PLC feedback errors, mechanical binding, or timeout conditions in the gear shift logic.

Block spindle actual gear stage differs from requested gear
The requested gear stage change has been concluded. The actual gear stage reported by the PLC as being engaged is not the same as the required gear stage called for by the NC. Note: Wherever possible, the requested gear stage should always be engaged Control reaction: Alarm display.

Causes and Fixes
Access Diagnostics > Spindle > Actual Values menu. Verify the 'Actual Gear Stage' parameter matches the 'Requested Gear Stage' in real-time. If they differ, check PLC input module for the gear feedback signal.
Do not proceed with spindle operation if actual and requested stages remain mismatched.
In the PLC program (OB1 or spindle control logic), verify inputs connected to MD 33050 (spindle gear actual value feedback) are reading correctly. Use PLC diagnostics to monitor the discrete inputs from gear position sensors.
Check machine-side proximity sensors or micro-switches that detect which gear is engaged. Clean or replace faulty sensors. Verify wiring integrity to the PLC input terminals.
Review MD 33060 (spindle gear stage change timeout in ms). If set too low (default ~2000ms), increase by 500ms increments and retry the gear change. Verify with machine builder specifications.
