22012

Siemens 840D 22012 - Channel block leading spindle is in simulation.

Channel block leading spindle is in simulation.

Siemens SINUMERIK 840D alarm 22012: Channel block leading spindle is in simulation. This alarm indicates a spindle-related fault or programming error on the specified channel. The affected spindle function cannot be executed.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 22012 occurs when attempting to couple a following spindle to a leading spindle that is in simulation mode (MD 3100 bit 0 = 1), while the following spindle operates in real mode. Spindle synchronism cannot be established across mismatched simulation/real modes due to NCK timing and feedback path incompatibilities. The alarm prevents invalid coupling commands that would result in undefined synchronization behavior.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to Diagnostics > Parameter > Spindle on the operator panel. Select the leading spindle channel and verify MD 3100 bit 0 setting. If set to 1, simulation is active.

  2. 2

Cross-check the following spindle MD 3100 bit 0 value. Confirm both spindles have matching simulation mode settings (both 0 for real operation, or both 1 for simulation).

Do not enable simulation mode on spindles intended for production synchronization; this blocks coupling.

  3. 3

If coupling is required, disable simulation mode on the leading spindle by setting MD 3100 bit 0 = 0, then reload the spindle parameter set via Startup > Reset NCK > Parameter Transfer.

  4. 4

Verify encoder feedback connectivity on the leading spindle (MD 3200 Spindle feedback type must match actual hardware: 0=no feedback, 1=encoder, 2=resolver). Confirm MD 3200 is not set to 0 if real synchronism is required.
