Siemens 22030 - Block following spindle Impermissible programming

Block following spindle Impermissible programming

With synchronous spindle-VV-coupling an additional motion for the following spindle can only be programmed with M3, M4, M5 and S. The paths created by specified positions cannot be maintained safely for a velocity coupling, especially if a position control is missing. If dimensional accuracy or reproducibility are not important, the alarm can be suppressed with MD11410 $MN_SUPPRESS_ALARM_MASK Bit27 = 1 Control reaction: NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Root Cause Summary

ALARM 22030 fires when a following spindle in VV-coupling (velocity-velocity synchronous coupling) mode receives impermissible programming commands beyond M3, M4, M5, and S-word functions. The SINUMERIK 840D NCK cannot maintain safe position control and dimensional accuracy with additional motion commands in coupled spindle mode, as path trajectories cannot be guaranteed during velocity coupling without explicit position feedback.

Safety

  • Spindle hazard: ensure the spindle is at standstill before working near it; follow lockout/tagout procedures.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Verify MD 36100 and MD 36110 settings in SINUMERIK Operate (Diagnostics > Parameters > Machine Data). Confirm CouplingMode is set to VV (velocity-velocity) coupling, which restricts following spindle programming.

Do not modify coupling mode parameters without consulting Siemens documentation or system integrator.

  2. 2

Review the NC program block listed in alarm (%2 block reference). Remove any G-code motion commands (G00, G01, G02, G03) from blocks that reference the following spindle (%3) during coupling.

  3. 3

Separate coupled spindle commands into dedicated blocks. Program M3/M4/M5 and S-words on independent lines to avoid motion command conflicts with spindle synchronization.

  4. 4

Reset alarm via RESET key and verify NC program syntax in Program Editor before restarting cycle.
