Siemens 840D 20123 - Axis: different output assignment of multiplied tables
Alarm 20123 occurs when interpolatory compensation tables are configured for multiplication, but the two tables have different output axes assigned. This violates the SINUMERIK requirement that multiplied compensation tables must reference the same physical axis. The NCK automatically disables compensation on the affected axis to prevent erroneous offset calculations.

Axis: different output assignment of multiplied tables
Siemens SINUMERIK 840D alarm 20123: Axis: different output assignment of multiplied tables. This alarm indicates a program or channel-level error on the SINUMERIK control. The part program or machine function cannot be executed as commanded.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 20123 occurs when interpolatory compensation tables are configured for multiplication, but the two tables have different output axes assigned. This violates the SINUMERIK requirement that multiplied compensation tables must reference the same physical axis. The NCK automatically disables compensation on the affected axis to prevent erroneous offset calculations.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Access Diagnostics > Machine Data > MD 32008 and verify the table function type is set to multiplication for the affected axis compensation.
Cross-reference MD 32010 (Compensation Output Axis) for both input tables. Confirm both tables list the same axis number (e.g., both = axis 1 for X-axis).
Do not proceed with table multiplication if output axes differ; this configuration is invalid.
If axes are mismatched, reconfigure MD 32010 for one or both tables to align them to the same axis, or separate the tables into independent (non-multiplied) compensation chains.
Cycle power or execute a soft reset (NCK Reset) via HMI to reload machine data and clear the alarm.
