20057

Siemens 20057 - Block revolutional feedrate for axis/spindle is <= zero

Block revolutional feedrate for axis/spindle is <= zero

Revolutional feed has been programmed for an axis/spindle, but the velocity was not programmed or the programmed value is smaller than or equal to zero Control reaction: Correction block is reorganized. Local alarm reaction. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 20057 fires when a revolutional feedrate (FROT - feedrate in revolutions per time unit) is programmed for an axis or spindle without a valid velocity value, or the velocity is ≤ 0. This occurs in the NCK block interpreter when FROT syntax is detected but the associated spindle speed or axis rotational velocity parameter is missing or invalid.

Safety

  • Spindle hazard: ensure the spindle is at standstill before working near it; follow lockout/tagout procedures.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Review the part program block triggering the alarm. Verify that an S parameter (spindle speed in RPM/min) is programmed before or with the FROT feedrate specification in the same or preceding block.

FROT requires active spindle rotation; static spindle speed cannot support revolutional feedrate.

  2. 2

Check the spindle speed value: use Diagnostics > NCK > Block Data menu to inspect the current S value. Confirm S > 0 and matches machine spindle limits (typically 10–10,000 RPM depending on MD 35100 Max spindle speed).

  3. 3

If S parameter is missing, add S command before FROT block (e.g., S500 M3; G1 X10 F100 FROT). If S is present but zero or negative, correct the spindle speed value in the NC program.

  4. 4

Clear alarm via NC START/RESET. Re-execute the corrected program block and verify spindle is running at programmed speed via Diagnostics > Actual Values > Spindle display.
