Siemens 840D 15171 - Channel block compiled program older than the relevant

Channel block compiled program older than the relevant

When calling a precompiled subroutine, it was noticed that the compiled program is older than the relevant SPF file. The compiled program was deleted and during start the subroutine is executed instead of the compiled program.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • SPF source file was modified after the compiled program (DCC/CCI file) was created, causing a timestamp mismatch
  • Compiled program files were not regenerated after updates to source subroutine files
  • Manual editing or version control operations updated SPF file timestamps without recompiling
  • Memory card or backup restoration placed older compiled files alongside newer source files
  • Program editor or offline programming software created newer SPF versions without triggering recompilation

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the modification timestamps of both the SPF source file and corresponding DCC/CCI compiled file using the file system or control panel diagnostics
  2. 2Delete all compiled program files (DCC/CCI) associated with the affected subroutine to force recompilation on next execution
  3. 3Recompile the affected subroutine by running a full program compilation cycle through the control's program management interface
  4. 4Check that all dependent subroutine files have been updated and recompiled in the correct order to maintain consistency
  5. 5Verify file integrity by comparing SPF and compiled file dates across the entire program directory and regenerate any mismatched pairs
