Siemens 840D 14101 - Channel block orientation transformation not active

Channel block orientation transformation not active

Euler angles or a vector have been used in programming an orientation and no orientation transformation is active, i.e. the keyword TRAORI(n) (n. number of transformation grouping) is missing. Example of correct transformation programming: N100. TRAORI(1) N110 G01 X. Y. ORIWKS N120 A3. B

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • TRAORI instruction missing or not called before orientation commands in the NC program
  • Incorrect transformation grouping number specified in TRAORI(n) - mismatch between defined and active transformation
  • Orientation specification using Euler angles or vector notation without active 5-axis transformation
  • Program block contains ORIWKS or similar orientation commands before TRAORI activation
  • Transformation was deactivated or reset prior to orientation block execution

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the NC program structure - locate the orientation command (ORIWKS, Euler angles, or vector notation) and verify TRAORI(n) is called in a preceding block with appropriate grouping number
  2. 2Confirm the transformation grouping number used in TRAORI(n) matches the transformation definition in the machine parameter settings and post-processor configuration
  3. 3Insert TRAORI(n) instruction before the first orientation-dependent block; verify syntax matches N100 TRAORI(1) format shown in alarm description example
  4. 4Check if a TRAFOOF or similar deactivation command was executed after TRAORI - reposition TRAORI call after any deactivation blocks if present
  5. 5Simulate or dry-run the corrected program to confirm alarm clears and orientation transformation activates without secondary errors
