From the HMI, navigate to the archive/backup dialog that is currently open on screen.

Select the destination drive from available options (USB, CF card, network drive, or local NC memory).

Ensure the selected media has sufficient free space for the archive operation.

If using external media (USB/CF card), verify the device is properly inserted and recognized by the system.

Confirm the path selection and proceed with the archive operation. The message will clear automatically.

Navigate to HMI → Commissioning → Network Configuration to verify network settings and available network drives.

Access requires appropriate user authorization level (manufacturer or service).

Check that the target network share is mounted and accessible from the control using the ping or connection test functions.

If network path is unavailable, select an alternative local destination (USB or CF card) for immediate archiving needs.

Configure or repair network connections as needed, then retry the archive operation with network path selected.

Select a valid drive/path from the current dialog to complete the immediate archive operation.

Access HMI → Commissioning → System Data to review archive-related setting data (check SD42890 ARCHIV_PATH or equivalent parameters).

Modifying system data requires manufacturer/service access rights and should be documented.

Configure a default archive path in the appropriate setting data if frequent archiving to the same location is required.

Perform a control restart (NCK reset) if system data changes were made, then verify automatic path selection in subsequent archive operations.

Coordinate control restart with production schedule to avoid disruption.
