Root Cause Summary

Alarm 101637 occurs when attempting to write or modify a protected parameter during a download operation to the NCK (Numerical Control Kernel). • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Access HMI Commissioning mode and review the download protocol to identify which specific parameter(s) triggered the alarm. Note the parameter number(s) displayed.

  2. 2

Check the INI or ARC file being downloaded with a text editor. Locate the protected parameter(s) and verify if they truly need to be modified or can be excluded from the download.

  3. 3

If parameters are OEM-protected, contact machine manufacturer for access password or request an updated parameter file that excludes write-protected parameters.

Do not attempt to force-write OEM-protected parameters without authorization as this may void warranty or damage machine functionality.

  4. 4

Re-edit the download file to remove or comment out the protected parameter lines (prefix with semicolon), then retry the download operation.
