Common Causes

• Failed motor encoder
• Encoder link cable or connector damage/looseness
• Faulty inverter unit control board
• Encoder fuse blown or encoder supply voltage out of range (normal 10.6–13.8 V)

Troubleshooting Steps

1. 1Read the code number shown with the alarm: code XX=0 = Failure during reset step; code XX=1 = Failure during network address setting; code XX=2 = Failure requesting basic communication information; code XX=3 = Failure during communication version change; code XX=4 = Failure acquiring device information; code XX=5 = Failure during parameter change; code XX=6 = Failure at AT (auto) mode start; code YY=0 = Communication error; ZZZZ = link error status C2ERR
2. 2Record the full XXYYZZZZ code: XX is the link sequence step where it failed, YY is the error type.
3. 3Special case: if XXXX shows $FFFF, the encoder fuse voltage has failed and ZZZZ is the measured voltage (normal 10.6–13.8 V) — check the encoder fuse and its supply wiring before anything else.
4. 4For YY=0–3 (communication error or time overs), power down and inspect/reseat the encoder link cable and connectors on the named axis for damage, oil, or bent pins.
5. 5For YY=4 or 5 (abnormal response), suspect the cable first, then the motor encoder.
6. 6For YY=6 (parameter error), ZZZZ tells which: 1=missing parameters, 2=incompatible communication basic info, 3=multi-rotation range mismatch — have service verify encoder parameters.
7. 7If the fault persists after cable and fuse checks, replace the motor encoder, then the inverter unit control board; record alarm, code and object and contact Okuma service if it returns.
