KUKA Robot KRC0818 - “EXIT” NOT IN LOOP BODY 2154

“EXIT” NOT IN LOOP BODY 2154

This alarm indicates that an EXIT statement was encountered outside of a loop structure (WHILE, FOR, or REPEAT loop) in the KRL program. The EXIT keyword is only valid within loop bodies and cannot be used in the main program flow or outside of iterative constructs.

Common Causes

  • EXIT statement placed at the main program level instead of inside a loop
  • Mismatched or missing loop opening statement (FOR, WHILE, or REPEAT) before the EXIT
  • Incorrect indentation or code structure making the EXIT appear outside the intended loop scope
  • EXIT statement used in a conditional block that is logically separated from the loop structure
  • Copy-paste error where EXIT code was moved outside its original loop context

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Open the KRL source file and locate the line number associated with the EXIT statement
  2. 2Verify that the EXIT statement is properly nested inside a WHILE, FOR, or REPEAT loop body
  3. 3Check the code structure and indentation to ensure the EXIT is within the loop's scope
  4. 4Review the loop opening statement to confirm it precedes the EXIT and is properly formatted
  5. 5If needed, move the EXIT statement inside the appropriate loop or remove it if it is no longer required
  6. 6Recompile the program to confirm the syntax error is resolved
