KUKA Robot KRC0487 - Orientation acceleration not programmed

Orientation acceleration not programmed

This alarm indicates that the orientation acceleration parameters have not been initialized in the robot's program data. The system requires both $ACC.ORI1 and $ACC.ORI2 variables to be assigned numerical values before executing motion commands that involve orientation changes. Without these parameters defined, the KRC controller cannot calculate proper acceleration profiles for rotational movements around the tool frame axes.

Common Causes

  • Program initialization incomplete - orientation acceleration variables not declared in the startup sequence
  • Missing or incomplete program header with system variable assignments
  • Variables accidentally deleted or commented out from the program data section
  • Robot project corrupted or improperly transferred from another controller
  • Using legacy program code that predates automatic variable initialization in current KRC firmware version

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Open the active program in the KRC editor and locate the data declaration section at the beginning of the program file
  2. 2Add explicit assignments for $ACC.ORI1 and $ACC.ORI2 with appropriate acceleration values in °/s² (typically range 5-720 depending on payload and application)
  3. 3Verify syntax: include statements such as '$ACC.ORI1 = 180' and '$ACC.ORI2 = 180' in the initialization block before any motion commands
  4. 4Check that these variables are not locally scoped - they must be declared as global program data or system-level parameters
  5. 5Compile and download the corrected program to the KRC controller using the standard download procedure
  6. 6Execute a reference run or test motion command to confirm the alarm clears and orientation movements execute properly
