KUKA Robot KRC0378 - RCP SWITCH POSITION INADMISSIBLE

RCP SWITCH POSITION INADMISSIBLE

This alarm indicates that the RCP (Remote Control Protocol) interface has attempted to initiate more than the maximum allowed concurrent transfer processes. The KUKA system enforces a limit of 4 simultaneous transfer operations to maintain system stability and prevent resource exhaustion on the controller.

Common Causes

  • Multiple WorkVisual or external applications initiating simultaneous file transfers to the KRC4 controller
  • Unfinished transfer processes remaining in the queue due to network interruption or timeout
  • Custom KRL programs using excessive parallel COPY or TRANSFER commands without proper synchronization
  • Concurrent RCP client connections attempting to upload or download modules simultaneously
  • Automatic synchronization tools triggering multiple transfers without respecting the 4-process limit

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the number of active RCP connections using KUKA smartPAD diagnostics or network monitoring tools
  2. 2Terminate any inactive transfer processes by closing unused WorkVisual windows or KRL communication channels
  3. 3Wait for all current transfers to complete before initiating new file operations, monitoring the transfer queue status
  4. 4Reduce the number of concurrent client applications accessing the KRC4 system and establish a sequential transfer protocol
  5. 5Review KRL programs for inefficient COPY or TRANSFER command usage and refactor to respect the 4-process limitation
  6. 6Restart the KRC4 controller if transfer processes appear stuck in queue and cannot be cleared through normal cancellation
