KUKA Robot KRC0191 - COMMUNICATION <operator control device> - KRC INTERRUPTED

COMMUNICATION <operator control device> - KRC INTERRUPTED

The communication link between the active operator control device (KUKA smartPAD or external teach pendant) and the KRC4 controller was lost or interrupted while the robot was executing motion in test mode. This loss of communication stops the active motion and requires operator intervention to restore control.

Common Causes

  • Wireless connection dropout between KUKA smartPAD and KRC4 due to range or interference
  • USB or serial communication cable disconnected or physically damaged during teach and test operations
  • Electromagnetic interference from nearby equipment affecting the wireless or wired communication signal
  • Communication protocol timeout or synchronization loss due to KRC4 processing overload
  • Faulty communication interface module on the KRC4 controller or operator control device

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop the robot immediately by releasing the enabling switch and check the physical cable connections or wireless signal strength
  2. 2Restart the operator control device and re-establish the communication connection to the KRC4
  3. 3Move away from potential sources of electromagnetic interference and retry the motion in a different location if using wireless
  4. 4Check the cable routing and ensure it is not pinched, stretched, or damaged during robot operation
  5. 5Verify communication settings in the KRC4 system configuration and update the operator control device firmware if available
  6. 6If communication remains unstable, replace the communication cable or request KUKA service to inspect the communication interface hardware
