KRC0165

KUKA Robot KRC0165 - SELECTION ACTIVE

SELECTION ACTIVE

This alarm occurs when attempting to select a new tool, workpiece, or kinematic chain while another selection is already active in the KUKA KRC controller. The system requires that the current selection be deselected or properly linked before a new selection can be made. This is a safety and configuration management feature to prevent conflicting tool/workpiece data from being simultaneously active.

Common Causes

  • Attempting to select a new tool without deselecting the currently active tool
  • Trying to select a different workpiece (WOBJ) while another workpiece is still selected
  • Selecting a new kinematic chain without properly terminating the previous selection
  • Program logic error where tool/workpiece selection commands are executed without corresponding deselection commands
  • Incomplete or interrupted selection/deselection sequence in the robot program

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the robot program at the point where the alarm occurs and identify which tool, workpiece, or kinematic element was being selected
  2. 2Check if a previous selection is still active by examining the teach pendant display or KRC controller status panel
  3. 3Deselect the currently active tool or workpiece using the appropriate KRL commands (e.g., BAS() command or deselection logic) before attempting a new selection
  4. 4Verify that all tool and workpiece selections in the program are properly paired with corresponding deselection commands
  5. 5Use the KUKA.Workbench software to review the program structure and ensure correct syntax for selection/deselection operations
  6. 6Reset the controller and restart the program after correcting the selection sequence logic
