KUKA Robot KRC0107 - Emergency Stop Due to Dial Adjustment

Emergency Stop Due to Dial Adjustment

This alarm triggers when the Program Override (POV) dial position changes during automatic program execution on a KRC4/KRC5 controller. The system detects movement of the potentiometer while the robot is running in automatic mode, which violates safety requirements for consistent program execution speed. Program execution halts immediately to prevent unpredictable motion behavior.

Common Causes

  • Operator accidentally bumped or turned the POV dial on the smartPAD during automatic operation
  • Faulty or worn POV potentiometer on the smartPAD with intermittent contact causing erratic signal readings
  • Electrical noise or loose connector X11 on the smartPAD causing false POV position changes
  • POV dial mechanical damage or dirt/debris preventing stable position sensing
  • Software configuration error where automatic mode monitoring parameters are too sensitive to POV changes

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Step 1: Acknowledge the alarm and verify POV dial is set to 100% before restarting automatic mode
  2. 2Step 2: Inspect POV dial mechanically for damage, loose feel, or debris and clean if necessary
  3. 3Step 3: Check smartPAD connector X11 for proper seating and pin condition, reseat connector firmly
  4. 4Step 4: Navigate to Service > Calibrate > smartPAD and perform POV calibration procedure to reset potentiometer range
  5. 5Step 5: Test POV by slowly rotating through full range in T1 mode while monitoring $OV_PRO variable to detect erratic jumps
  6. 6Step 6: Replace smartPAD if POV potentiometer shows intermittent values or calibration fails, then verify in AUTOMATIC mode
