HEIDENHAIN 280-048C - Spindle for synchronization could not be ascertained
Alarm 280-048C occurs when the TNC control cannot automatically determine which spindle to synchronize during a spindle synchronization operation. This typically happens when the machine configuration has more or fewer than exactly two spindles, or when spindle assignment parameters are incorrectly configured.

Causes and Fixes
Check spindle configuration
Navigate to MOD → Machine Parameters → MP7500 series and verify how many spindles are configured with valid axis assignments.
Look for non-zero values in MP7501, MP7511, MP7521, etc. to count active spindles
Verify synchronization command syntax
If more than two spindles exist, use explicit spindle specification in your synchronization command (e.g., M19 S1 or specify target spindle number).
Ensure the target spindle is not the currently active channel spindle
Review channel spindle assignments
Check MP7440-MP7449 to verify which spindle is assigned as the active channel spindle and ensure it's not the intended synchronization target.
