HEIDENHAIN 230-003D - Two-fold positioning was requested for axis

Two-fold positioning was requested for axis

The same axis received simultaneous positioning commands from both the PLC and the NC. The control cannot execute two moves on one axis at the same time.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 230-003D occurs when the TNC detects simultaneous positioning commands for the same axis from both the NC program and PLC. This conflict arises when the axis control authority is not properly managed between NC and PLC domains.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Check PLC program for axis commands

Access PLC program via MOD function and examine for M118/M119 axis positioning commands or direct servo commands to the affected axis.

Look for PLC positioning routines that may not have proper NC/PLC handshaking

  2. 2

    Verify axis control transfer

Check if proper M118 (PLC axis control) and M119 (NC axis control) commands are used to transfer axis authority before positioning.

Never attempt manual axis movement when control authority is unclear

  3. 3

    Review NC program sequence

Examine the NC program around the alarm occurrence for simultaneous axis commands or missing control transfer sequences.

  4. 4

    Implement proper handshaking

Add appropriate M118/M119 commands or PLC interlocks to ensure only one system controls the axis at a time.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·PLC program modifications required
  • ·Machine parameter backup not available
  • ·Multiple related alarms persist

Prevention

  • Always use proper M118/M119 sequences for axis control transfer
  • Implement PLC interlocks to prevent simultaneous axis commands
  • Regular backup of machine parameters and PLC programs

Common Mistakes

  • Modifying PLC program without understanding NC/PLC handshaking
  • Changing machine parameters without documentation
  • Ignoring proper control transfer sequences in custom macros
