HEIDENHAIN 230-0048 - The axis cannot be traversed additionally
Alarm 230-0048 occurs when attempting to traverse an axis that is restricted by active kinematic transformations on the TNC control. The axis movement conflicts with TCPM (Tool Center Point Management), basic rotation, or oblique axis kinematics that mathematically constrain the axis motion.
HEIDENHAIN 230-0048 - The axis cannot be traversed additionally
The axis cannot be traversed additionally
Because of the active kinematics, an additional traverse for this axis is forbidden. Basic rotation, TCPM, or an oblique-axis machine can trigger this restriction.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 230-0048 occurs when attempting to traverse an axis that is restricted by active kinematic transformations on the TNC control. The axis movement conflicts with TCPM (Tool Center Point Management), basic rotation, or oblique axis kinematics that mathematically constrain the axis motion.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Check TCPM Status
Press MANUAL mode, check status line for M128 TCPM active indicator or verify in MOD function if TCPM is enabled.
TCPM status is also visible in the active M-function display
Deactivate TCPM
Execute M129 to deactivate TCPM or use MOD function to disable TCPM mode before attempting axis traversal.
Deactivating TCMP during machining will change tool path behavior
Verify Kinematic Model
Check machine parameter MP7500.x (kinematic model selection) to ensure correct kinematic configuration is active.
Document current kinematic settings before making changes
