Stop program execution

Press the STOP key to halt the current program execution and ensure the NC reaches a complete stop state.

Wait for all axes to come to a complete standstill before proceeding

Switch to Manual mode

Select Manual operating mode using the mode selector switch or soft key to ensure the NC is not in automatic execution state.

Ensure workpiece and tooling are in safe positions before mode change

Access axis activation menu

Navigate to MOD > Machine > Axis activation and attempt the axis status change again.

Check that no background processes or look-ahead calculations are active

Verify axis status change

Confirm the axis activation status has changed successfully in the position display and machine parameter overview.

Check emergency stop status

Verify all emergency stop buttons are released and the emergency stop circuit is properly reset at the machine control panel.

Only reset emergency stops after ensuring the work area is safe

Verify safety interlocks

Check all safety doors, guards, and protective devices are properly closed and their status signals are active in the PLC diagnostics.

Use MOD > Diagnosis > PLC to view safety input states

Reset safety system

Perform a complete safety system reset using the machine's safety reset button or sequence as specified by the machine manufacturer.

Attempt axis activation

Once all safety conditions are satisfied, retry the axis activation change through MOD > Machine > Axis activation.

Check servo drive status

Navigate to MOD > Diagnosis > Servo to view individual axis drive status and identify any fault conditions or error states.

Look for red status indicators or fault codes on individual axis displays

Clear servo faults

Reset any active servo drive faults using the CE key or through the servo diagnostics menu, ensuring drives return to ready state.

Verify axis reference status

Check if the affected axis has valid reference point status - unreferenced axes may prevent activation changes.

Referencing axes will cause motion - ensure safe machine state

Test axis activation

After clearing faults and establishing proper axis states, retry the activation status change for the specific axis.

Check PLC status

Access MOD > Diagnosis > PLC and review the PLC program status to identify any active blocking conditions or interlocks.

Look for custom machine function blocks that may control axis activation permissions

Review machine state

Verify the machine is not in the middle of an automatic sequence like tool change, pallet change, or other PLC-controlled operations.

Wait for sequence completion

Allow any active machine sequences to complete normally, or safely abort them using appropriate machine function keys.

Aborting machine sequences may leave components in unsafe positions

Retry activation change

Once the machine returns to idle state with no active PLC blocking conditions, attempt the axis activation change again.

Check NC processing status

Monitor the NC status display for any active background processes, compilation activities, or system busy indicators.

Look for progress bars or busy indicators in the status line

Wait for process completion

Allow background processes to complete naturally, or cancel non-critical processes if safe to do so.

Clear NC memory if needed

If processes appear stuck, perform a controlled NC reset using MOD > Reset > NC Reset to clear the processing queue.

NC reset will clear program memory and require reloading programs

Attempt activation after reset

Once the NC returns to idle state, retry the axis activation change through the normal menu path.
