HAAS Alarm 36 - Low Lubrication System Pressure

Lubrication system pressure too low

This alarm indicates the lubrication system pressure switch has not closed within the expected time after the lube pump motor energizes, or pressure has dropped during operation. The MOCON monitors input from the pressure switch and will halt machine operation to prevent way damage from inadequate lubrication. This is a critical safety interlock that protects the linear guideways and ball screws from premature wear or catastrophic failure.

Root Cause Summary

Haas Alarm 36 fires when the lubrication system pressure switch detects insufficient oil pressure to properly lubricate critical machine components. The NGC control monitors this pressure continuously and will immediately halt operation when pressure drops below the minimum threshold to prevent catastrophic bearing or gearbox damage.

Safety

  • Hydraulic oil can be hot and under pressure; allow system to depressurize and cool before service
  • Wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling hot oil or servicing pressurized lines
  • Never operate the machine without minimum oil pressure; bearing seizure and machine damage will result

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check oil level visually

Open the electrical cabinet door and locate the clear lubrication oil reservoir. Check that oil level is between MIN and MAX marks on the sight gauge.

Ensure machine is powered off and locked out before opening electrical cabinet

  2. 2

    Add appropriate lubricant

If low, add Haas-approved ISO 32 hydraulic oil (P/N 93-32-5GAL) through the fill port until level reaches MAX line. Do not overfill.

Use only Haas-approved lubricants to maintain warranty coverage and optimal performance

  3. 3

    Prime lubrication system

Power on machine and allow lubrication pump to run through several cycles. Monitor pressure gauge and verify alarm clears within 2-3 minutes of operation.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Pump motor replacement required
  • ·Multiple system components failing
  • ·Pressure issues persist after filter and oil service

Prevention

  • Check oil level weekly during daily maintenance
  • Replace lubrication filter every 2000 hours
  • Use only Haas-approved ISO 32 lubricant
  • Monitor Parameter 83 lubrication timer settings

Common Mistakes

  • Using wrong viscosity oil
  • Overfilling oil reservoir
  • Ignoring gradual pressure drops
  • Not priming system after oil changes
