Haas 208 - QUEUE ALLOCATION ERROR | Haas CNC Alarm

QUEUE ALLOCATION ERROR

QUEUE ALLOCATION ERROR means the MOCON control cannot allocate sufficient memory space in the look-ahead queue to process incoming G-code blocks. This memory management failure prevents the control from buffering enough motion commands for smooth execution. The machine stops immediately and program execution is terminated until the issue is resolved.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 208 occurs when the spindle gearbox fails to mechanically engage high gear within the timeout period after receiving the shift command from the control. The high gear proximity sensor (M21) does not confirm engagement, preventing spindle operation above the gear change threshold to protect the transmission from damage.

Safety

  • Gear may not be engaged

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Sensor Status

Navigate to CURRENT COMMANDS > DIAGNOSTICS > INPUTS and verify M21 (High Gear Prox) changes state when manually shifting gears with spindle stopped.

Ensure spindle is completely stopped before manual gear manipulation

  2. 2

    Inspect Sensor Mounting

Remove spindle cover and visually inspect high gear proximity sensor for proper alignment, damage, or debris. Sensor should be 0.5-1.0mm from target surface.

Use a feeler gauge to verify exact gap - too close can cause false triggering, too far prevents detection

  3. 3

    Test Sensor Continuity

With machine powered down, disconnect sensor connector and test continuity between sensor leads. Replace sensor if open circuit or intermittent connection found.

  4. 4

    Verify Wiring Integrity

Check wiring from sensor to control cabinet for damage, especially in cable track areas where flexing occurs during spindle operation.

DIY Feasiblemedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Mechanical gearbox disassembly required
  • ·Hydraulic pump replacement needed
  • ·Control board replacement indicated

Prevention

  • Maintain proper hydraulic fluid level and cleanliness
  • Perform regular gear shift function tests
  • Keep proximity sensors clean and properly aligned
  • Monitor hydraulic pressure trends

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring hydraulic pressure warnings
  • Adjusting sensor gap without proper measurement
  • Changing gear parameters without understanding spindle specifications
  • Operating spindle manually without verifying gear engagement
