Haas Alarm 1150 - Door Interlock

Door Interlock

This alarm occurs when the machine detects the main door or splash guard is not properly closed and locked while attempting to initiate a cycle start or spindle operation. The MOCON board monitors door interlock switch inputs as a safety feature to prevent operation with guards open. The machine will not allow cycle start, spindle rotation, or automatic mode operation until all door switches indicate secure closed position.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 1150 occurs when the NGC control detects an open circuit in the door interlock safety system during cycle operation. The control monitors door switch inputs through the machine I/O and immediately halts all axis motion when the interlock circuit opens to ensure operator safety.

Safety

  • Never bypass or defeat door interlocks for production - this alarm exists to prevent serious injury from contact with rotating tools and moving machine components
  • Apply lockout/tagout before working on door switches or wiring to prevent unexpected machine motion during troubleshooting
  • If performing temporary diagnostic jumper tests on interlock circuits, ensure all personnel are clear of machine envelope and spindle is disabled

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check door closure

Verify the main enclosure door is completely closed and all latches are fully engaged. Listen for the distinctive 'click' of the door latch mechanism.

Never attempt to bypass door interlocks - they are critical safety devices

  2. 2

    Inspect door alignment

Check if the door is properly aligned with the frame. Misalignment can prevent proper latch engagement even when the door appears closed.

Look for gaps between the door and frame that indicate misalignment

  3. 3

    Test door operation

Open and close the door several times to ensure smooth operation and proper latch engagement. Check for any binding or resistance.

The door should close with consistent force and latch positively each time

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Door switch replacement required
  • ·NGC control input module failure suspected
  • ·Safety circuit modifications needed

Prevention

  • Regularly inspect door operation and alignment
  • Keep door latch mechanism clean and lubricated
  • Protect door wiring from damage during operation
  • Include door interlock testing in preventive maintenance schedule

Common Mistakes

  • Attempting to bypass door interlocks
  • Forcing a misaligned door closed
  • Ignoring intermittent door switch behavior
  • Not checking wire routing through door hinge area
