Haas Alarm 1141 - Lube Level Low

Lube Level Low

This alarm is triggered when the lubrication system reservoir level drops below the minimum threshold as detected by a float switch or level sensor monitored by the MOCON board. Insufficient lubricant prevents proper way lube delivery to the linear guides and ballscrews, which will cause accelerated wear and potential axis failure. The machine stops all motion to protect the mechanical components from running dry.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 1141 fires when the float-style level switch in the way lubrication reservoir detects oil level below minimum threshold. The NGC control immediately halts automatic lube cycles to prevent pump damage and protect ballscrew/guideway components from inadequate lubrication.

Safety

  • Power off the machine and use LOTO procedures when disconnecting electrical connectors or performing wiring continuity checks to prevent shock hazard from 24VDC control circuits.
  • Way oil is slippery - immediately clean any spills on the floor or machine surfaces to prevent slip hazards. Use absorbent pads and dispose according to facility waste oil procedures.
  • Do not run the machine with this alarm active for extended periods. Operating without proper way lubrication will cause rapid wear and galling on ballscrews and linear guides, leading to expensive axis rebuild costs exceeding $5,000-$15,000 per axis.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Reservoir Level Visually

Open electrical cabinet and locate the way lubrication reservoir tank. Visually inspect oil level against minimum mark on tank.

Ensure machine is powered down and locked out before opening electrical cabinet

  2. 2

    Refill with Correct Lubricant

Add Haas-approved way oil (typically ISO 68 viscosity) to reservoir until level reaches maximum fill line. Do not overfill.

Use only Haas P/N 93-32-5051 way oil or equivalent ISO 68 lubricant to maintain warranty compliance

  3. 3

    Reset Alarm and Test

Press RESET to clear alarm 1141. Navigate to CURRENT COMMANDS and verify automatic lube cycles resume normal operation.

Monitor for 2-3 automatic lube cycles to ensure float switch is functioning properly

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Float switch replacement required
  • ·Electrical troubleshooting beyond basic connections
  • ·Lubrication system pump failure suspected

Prevention

  • Check way lube level weekly during routine maintenance
  • Use only Haas-approved way oil to prevent contamination
  • Monitor oil consumption patterns to detect leaks early
  • Keep float switch area clean and free of debris

Common Mistakes

  • Using incorrect viscosity oil
  • Overfilling reservoir causing float switch issues
  • Ignoring alarm and running machine without adequate lubrication
  • Not checking for external leaks when consumption is high
