Fanuc 393 - Corner rounding data error

CORNER ROUNDING DATA ERROR

Fanuc PS program alarm 393: CORNER ROUNDING DATA ERROR. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 393 occurs when the CNC detects an invalid corner rounding (,R) specification in the G-code program. This typically happens when the corner rounding radius is larger than geometrically possible for the programmed move, when incompatible commands are combined with corner rounding, or when the radius value is incorrectly formatted or missing.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Locate the program block number shown in the alarm display and identify the move commands before and after the ,R specification.

  2. 2

Calculate the actual length of each line segment forming the corner using the coordinate differences between points.

  3. 3

Verify the ,R radius value does not exceed the shorter of the two line segments. As a rule, R should be less than 50% of the shortest segment length.

  4. 4

Reduce the ,R value to a smaller radius that fits within the geometric constraints and re-run the program.
