Fanuc 226 - Torque control data error

TORQUE CONTROL DATA ERROR

Fanuc PS program alarm 226: TORQUE CONTROL DATA ERROR. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 226 occurs when the CNC encounters invalid torque control parameters or incorrect syntax in a G96 (constant surface speed) or torque-related command. This is typically caused by missing parameters, out-of-range values, or attempting torque control functions without proper machine configuration or spindle capability.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Review the program line indicated in the alarm display. Look for G96, G331/G332 (rigid tapping with torque), or any S-code commands with torque modifiers.

  2. 2

Verify that G96 commands include a valid cutting speed value (S word). Check that the value is within the machine's allowable range as defined in spindle parameters.

  3. 3

Ensure G97 (constant RPM mode) is commanded before the program section if torque control is not required. Confirm G50 maximum spindle speed is properly defined before G96.

  4. 4

Check for illegal zero values or negative numbers in torque-related commands. Correct any formatting errors such as missing decimal points or extra characters.
