61362

Siemens 61362 - Block : Cycle118: No. of values too large

Block: Cycle118: No. of values too large

4th parameter for CYCLE118 is larger than 10

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 61362 is triggered when CYCLE118 (Peck Drilling cycle) is invoked with the 4th parameter (PAR4) exceeding the maximum permissible value of 10. PAR4 controls the number of pecking steps or increments, and oversizing this value violates NCK cycle syntax constraints on the 840D control.

Safety

  • Only qualified personnel should diagnose and clear control alarms; follow the machine builder's safety procedures and lockout/tagout where hardware work is required.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Locate the CYCLE118 call in the active NC program (use Siemens HMI Program Editor or file explorer). Identify the 4th positional parameter (PAR4) in the cycle invocation syntax: CYCLE118(PAR1, PAR2, PAR3, PAR4, ...).

  2. 2

Verify PAR4 current value against the specification: maximum allowed is 10. Check for common errors such as unit misinterpretation (e.g., passing millimeters instead of count) or copy-paste errors from other cycles with different constraints.

Do not confuse PAR4 with other CYCLE118 parameters; refer to Siemens SINUMERIK 840D Cycle Documentation (DA) section 2-544 for parameter definitions.

  3. 3

Reduce PAR4 to a value ≤10. For example, change CYCLE118(..., 15, ...) to CYCLE118(..., 10, ...). If more pecking steps are functionally required, consider multiple cycle calls or adjust feed rates and peck depths via PAR1, PAR2, PAR3.

  4. 4

Save the corrected NC program and reload into the 840D control memory. Clear any active alarms via the HMI alarm reset function, then execute the revised block to confirm alarm 61362 no longer triggers.
