Siemens 310751 - Axis drive proportional gain for speed controller too high

Axis drive proportional gain for speed controller too high

The P gain of the speed controller is too high: - Modify MD 5406: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN_A (gain on A-side of cylinder edge) - or MD 5407: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN (gain for piston adjustment with lowest natural frequency) - or MD 5408: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN_B (gain on B-side of cylinder edge) Control reaction: NC not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm. Channel not ready.

Safety

  • Drive/power/encoder circuit: hazardous voltages may remain in the DC link after power-off. Lock out / tag out, wait for discharge per the drive documentation, and use qualified personnel only.

Common Causes

  • The P gain of the speed controller is too high: - Modify MD 5406: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN_A (gain on A-side of cylinder edge) - or MD 5407: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN (gain for piston adjustment with lowest natural frequency) - or MD 5408: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN_B (gain on B-side of cylinder edge)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Enter a smaller value for the P gain of the speed controller: - Modify MD 5406: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN_A (gain on A-side of cylinder edge) - or MD 5407: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN (gain for piston adjustment with lowest natural frequency) - or MD 5408: SPEEDCTRL_GAIN_B (gain on B-side of cylinder edge)
  2. 2Clear alarm with the RESET key in all channels. Restart part program
