Siemens 300401 - Drive software for type , block missing or incorrect

Drive software for type, block missing or incorrect

Either there is no software for this drive type or it contains errors. Drive type - 1 = VSA (as in MD DRIVE_TYPE!) - 2 = HSA - 3 = SLM - 4 = HYD - 5 = ANA Block number - 1 = Drive software (code) - 2 = Data descriptions (ACC file) Control reaction: NC not ready. The NC switches to follow-up mode. Channel not ready. NC Start disable in this channel. Interface signals are set. Alarm display. NC Stop on alarm.

Root Cause Summary

SINUMERIK alarm 300401 triggers when the actual axis position or velocity deviates beyond configured monitoring limits from the commanded setpoint. This typically occurs due to mechanical binding, servo drive faults, or incorrectly configured monitoring parameters in the axis machine data.

Safety

  • Drive/power/encoder circuit: hazardous voltages may remain in the DC link after power-off. Lock out / tag out, wait for discharge per the drive documentation, and use qualified personnel only.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Following Error Display

Navigate to Diagnostics > Service > Axis Status and observe the following error value for the affected axis during movement.

Following error should typically be less than 0.1mm for linear axes and 0.01° for rotary axes during normal operation.

  2. 2

    Verify MD32200 Setting

Check machine data MD32200[AX] FOLLOWING_ERR_WINDOW value. Compare against actual following error observed in step 1.

Do not increase this value beyond 10x the normal following error without investigating root cause.

  3. 3

    Inspect Mechanical System

Check for mechanical binding, worn ballscrews, or coupling issues that could cause position lag. Manually move axis if safe to do so.

Ensure axis is disabled and machine is in safe state before manual movement.

  4. 4

    Optimize Servo Parameters

Access Parameters > Machine Data > Servo and review KV factor (MD32000) and integral time (MD32010) for proper tuning.

Use SINUMERIK Servo Trace to analyze position loop performance before adjusting parameters.

Call a technician if:

  • ·Drive hardware replacement needed
  • ·Encoder replacement required
  • ·Mechanical damage detected
  • ·Parameter optimization beyond basic adjustments

Prevention

  • Regular encoder cable inspection
  • Proper servo tuning maintenance
  • Monitor following error trends
  • Implement collision detection parameters

Common Mistakes

  • Increasing monitoring windows without finding root cause
  • Ignoring mechanical wear indicators
  • Adjusting servo parameters without proper analysis
  • Not checking drive enable signal integrity
