Siemens 840D 12110 - Channel block block syntax cannot be interpreted

Channel block block syntax cannot be interpreted

The addresses programmed in the block are not permissible together with the valid syntax defining G function, e.g. G1 I10 X20 Y30 F1000. An interpolation parameter must not be programmed in the linear block.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • Interpolation parameters (I, J, K) programmed in a linear interpolation block (G1) where they are not valid
  • Mixing circular interpolation parameters with linear motion commands in the same block
  • Incorrect G-code syntax combining incompatible address codes with the active G function
  • Parameter addresses used outside their defined scope for the current motion type

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the block syntax in the NC program at the specified block number and identify which addresses conflict with the G function being used
  2. 2Remove interpolation parameters (I, J, K) from linear interpolation blocks; reserve these parameters for circular interpolation (G2/G3)
  3. 3Verify that all address codes in the problematic block are valid for the active G function; consult the part program syntax rules for your control version
  4. 4Separate incompatible commands into different blocks if multiple motion types or parameter sets are required
  5. 5Reload the corrected NC program and verify block syntax with the control's program check function before running
