Siemens 840D 105006 - Only files can be inserted here
This alarm occurs when attempting to insert a workpiece file (.WPD) into a program directory structure where only executable program files are permitted. The SINUMERIK 840D file system maintains strict separation between workpiece directories (containing part programs and workpieces) and program directories, and this operation violates that structure.

Root Cause Summary
This alarm occurs when attempting to insert a workpiece file (.WPD) into a program directory structure where only executable program files are permitted. The SINUMERIK 840D file system maintains strict separation between workpiece directories (containing part programs and workpieces) and program directories, and this operation violates that structure.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Navigate to the workpiece directory on the HMI (typically under '_N_WPD_DIR' or 'Workpiece' directory structure) and verify the source file is indeed a .WPD file type.
If you need to use this program, copy the actual NC program file (usually .MPF or .SPF) from within the workpiece container, not the entire .WPD workpiece file itself.
Do not attempt to rename .WPD files to .MPF - this will cause execution errors
Use the 'Program Manager' function to properly open the workpiece file, then copy individual NC programs to the desired program directory location using the correct HMI file management functions.
Acknowledge the alarm and restart the file operation using the correct source file type in the appropriate target directory.
