Heidenhain 230-0423 - Error in configuration of axis
This alarm is triggered by inconsistent or incomplete machine parameter configuration specific to the affected axis. The TNC control performs validation checks during initialization and detects parameters that are either missing, contradictory, or outside acceptable ranges. Resolution requires identifying and correcting the specific parameter discrepancy in the axis configuration data.
Heidenhain 230-0423 - Error in configuration of axis
Error in configuration of axis
Alarm 230-0423 indicates a configuration error in the axis parameters for the specified axis. This alarm occurs when the TNC control detects inconsistent, missing, or invalid axis configuration data in the machine parameters during system startup or after parameter changes. The control cannot properly initialize the axis due to conflicting or incomplete parameter settings.
Root Cause Summary
This alarm is triggered by inconsistent or incomplete machine parameter configuration specific to the affected axis. The TNC control performs validation checks during initialization and detects parameters that are either missing, contradictory, or outside acceptable ranges. Resolution requires identifying and correcting the specific parameter discrepancy in the axis configuration data.

Causes and Fixes
Access Machine Parameters
Press MOD key, enter password, select 'Machine Parameters'. Navigate to the MP1xxx series for the affected axis (e.g., MP1000-MP1999 for first axis, MP2000-MP2999 for second axis).
Accessing machine parameters requires password protection. Unauthorized changes can render the machine inoperable.
Verify Core Axis Parameters
Check that essential parameters exist: MP1010 (axis name assignment), MP1020 (reference point position), MP1030 (reference point offset), MP1040 (direction of traverse to reference point). Ensure no parameter shows as undefined or contains invalid values.
Use the control's parameter search function (soft key 'SEARCH PARAM') to quickly locate all parameters for the specific axis number.
Compare with Backup or Documentation
If available, compare current parameters with machine documentation or parameter backup file (*.PAR). Restore missing parameters from backup using MOD > Data Transfer > Import Parameters if necessary.
Heidenhain controls store parameter backups in TNC:\system\backup. Check for most recent *.PAR file before the alarm occurred.
Reload and Restart
After correcting parameters, select 'END' softkey to save changes. Perform a complete control restart (power cycle) to reinitialize all axes with corrected parameters.
