HAAS Alarm 95 - Lubrication System Failure

Lubrication System Failure

The automatic lubrication system has failed to complete its lubrication cycle or has detected a fault condition that prevents proper delivery of lubricant to machine ways and ballscrews. The MOCON board monitors lubrication pump cycle completion via pressure switch or cycle timer, and this alarm fires when the system does not confirm successful lubrication within the programmed interval. Continued operation without proper lubrication will cause accelerated wear and potential damage to linear guides and ballscrew assemblies.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 95 fires when the Haas NGC control detects insufficient lubrication system pressure or flow through the automatic lube pump circuit. The control monitors lubrication system status through pressure switches and flow sensors that trigger this alarm when proper oil delivery to critical machine components cannot be verified.

Safety

  • Verify spindle is completely stopped before accessing lubrication components
  • Used lubrication fluid may be hot and contaminated, handle with care
  • Do not operate machine extended periods without functional lubrication system

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check Oil Level Indicator

Navigate to CURRENT COMMANDS > AUX FUNCTIONS and observe the lubrication system status display. Check the physical oil sight gauge on the lubrication tank.

Machine must be powered on to check electronic oil level sensors

  2. 2

    Inspect for Oil Leaks

Examine all lubrication lines, fittings, and metering valves for external leakage. Check under the machine base and around axis slide ways for oil accumulation.

Use a flashlight to check hidden areas behind the spindle head and under the table

  3. 3

    Refill Lubrication System

Add Haas-approved way oil (typically ISO 68) to the lubrication tank. Fill to the maximum level mark and cycle the lube pump manually using M08 command.

Use only Haas-specified lubricants to prevent system damage

  4. 4

    Reset Alarm and Test

Press RESET to clear Alarm 95, then execute M08 to manually activate lubrication. Monitor pressure gauge and verify oil flow to all metering points.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Pump motor replacement required
  • ·Electrical cabinet modifications needed
  • ·Multiple system components failing simultaneously

Prevention

  • Check oil level weekly during operation
  • Replace lubrication oil annually or per Haas schedule
  • Clean metering valves during preventive maintenance
  • Monitor for external oil leaks during daily inspection

Common Mistakes

  • Using incorrect oil viscosity grade
  • Overfilling lubrication tank causing pressure issues
  • Adjusting metering valves without proper flow measurement
  • Ignoring small oil leaks that lead to system failure
