This alarm indicates the MOCON board has detected a communication or electrical fault on the X-axis motor cable between the servo amplifier and the motor. The fault can be triggered by damaged cable shielding, broken wires, contamination causing short circuits, or loss of encoder feedback signal. The machine will stop all motion and require a reset after the fault is cleared.

X CABLE FAULT
This alarm indicates the MOCON board has detected a communication or electrical fault on the X-axis motor cable between the servo amplifier and the motor. The fault can be triggered by damaged cable shielding, broken wires, contamination causing short circuits, or loss of encoder feedback signal. The machine will stop all motion and require a reset after the fault is cleared.
Safety
Position may be wrong
WARNING: Actual workpiece position may not match displayed coordinates
Disconnect power to the machine before performing any mechanical or electrical troubleshooting.
Be aware of potential pinch points when working around moving machine components.
Use proper lifting techniques when handling heavy components.
Ensure the machine is properly grounded to prevent electrical shock.
Do not attempt to repair the servo amplifier or motor unless you are a qualified technician.
Discharge capacitors in the servo drive before working on it to avoid electrical shock.
Be aware of stored energy in springs or other mechanical components.
Position may be incorrect, which could lead to inaccurate operations or safety hazards; always verify machine status before proceeding.
Ensure the area is clear and the machine is locked out/tag out before performing any physical checks.
Common Causes
Damaged or worn X-axis motor cable with broken shield or conductor wires from cable track wear
Contamination or coolant intrusion into the motor connector causing intermittent shorts
Loose or corroded connections at the motor end or servo amplifier terminal block
Encoder feedback cable damaged internally causing loss of commutation signals
Servo amplifier output stage failure creating abnormal voltage or current on motor phases
Troubleshooting Steps
1Step 1: Power down machine and inspect X-axis motor cable for visible damage, cuts, or coolant contamination especially in cable track
2Step 2: Check and reseat all connections at X-axis motor and at servo amp inside electrical cabinet, looking for corrosion or bent pins
3Step 3: Use ohmmeter to check continuity of all motor cable conductors and verify shield continuity from motor to amplifier ground
4Step 4: Inspect cable track for sharp edges or pinch points that may have damaged cable insulation over time
5Step 5: Swap X-axis motor cable with known good spare or with Y-axis cable temporarily to isolate cable versus amplifier fault
6Step 6: If cable tests good, check servo amplifier output stages using Diagnostics page or replace X-axis servo amp module
