Fanuc Alarm SP0758 - Spindle Speed Fluctuation
SP0758 triggers when the spindle control detects excessive speed fluctuation or deviation between commanded and actual spindle speed, typically monitored via spindle encoder feedback. This indicates poor velocity loop stability, mechanical issues causing speed variation, or feedback system problems in the spindle amplifier module (SPM).
Fanuc Alarm SP0758 - Spindle Speed Fluctuation
Spindle Speed Deviation
Spindle system alarm condition. The spindle drive or motor has detected an error state that may indicate overheating, overload, or feedback problems.
Root Cause Summary
SP0758 triggers when the spindle control detects excessive speed fluctuation or deviation between commanded and actual spindle speed, typically monitored via spindle encoder feedback. This indicates poor velocity loop stability, mechanical issues causing speed variation, or feedback system problems in the spindle amplifier module (SPM).

Causes and Fixes
Navigate to SYSTEM > PARAM and check parameter 4020 (spindle loop gain), 4021 (spindle integral time constant), and 4022 (spindle proportional gain). Document current values.
Access DIAGNOSIS > SPINDLE screen and monitor diagnostic 4000-4002 (spindle speed command vs actual speed). Observe deviation magnitude during constant speed command - deviation should be <1% of commanded speed.
Reduce parameter 4020 (loop gain) by 20% increments if oscillation is present. If response is sluggish, increase parameter 4021 (integral time) by 10% to improve tracking.
Excessive gain reduction may cause poor surface finish. Make changes incrementally and test at multiple speed ranges.
Verify parameter 4002 (spindle tolerance check enable) and 4004 (speed deviation tolerance percentage). If tolerance is set too tight (<2%), increase to 3-5% to prevent nuisance alarms during load variations.
