Fanuc Alarm 5237 - READ ERROR
Fanuc Alarm 5237 READ ERROR indicates a communication failure during a data read operation, typically occurring on the high-speed serial bus (FSSB/HSSB), DATA SERVER functions, or memory card/flash device access. This alarm is triggered when the CNC cannot successfully retrieve data from connected devices, network drives, or internal storage during file operations or parameter reading.

Causes and Fixes
Navigate to SYSTEM > DIAGNOSIS > [#200-#299] to check FSSB/HSSB channel status. For FSSB, check diagnostic #300-#399 for axis communication errors. Look for non-zero error counters indicating read failures on specific axes.
Inspect fiber optic cables (FSSB) or serial cables (HSSB) between CNC and amplifiers. Check for bent fiber cables (minimum bend radius 30mm), contaminated FC connectors, or loose RJ45/D-sub connectors. Clean fiber connectors with proper cleaning tools.
Never look directly into fiber optic cable ends. Laser radiation can cause eye damage.
Check servo amplifier LED displays. For Alpha/Beta series amplifiers, verify green POWER LED is solid and red ALARM LED is off. Blinking patterns indicate communication errors. Refer to amplifier hardware manual for specific LED codes.
Cycle power to the amplifiers (disconnect DC bus, wait 5 minutes, reconnect) to reset FSSB communication. If alarm persists, replace fiber optic cables or suspect amplifier one at a time to isolate the faulty device.
Ensure machine is in safe position and emergency stop is engaged before power cycling amplifiers.
