Fanuc Alarm 1014 - ILLEGAL FORMAT OF PROGRAM NO.

SYSTEM ALARM 1014

Fanuc alarm 1014: SYSTEM ALARM 1014. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 1014 occurs when the CNC control detects an O-code (program number) or N-code (sequence number) address that is not immediately followed by a valid numeric value. This is a program format error that prevents the control from properly identifying program numbers or sequence numbers during program execution or registration.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to EDIT mode and display the program where the alarm occurred. Press RESET to clear the alarm and check the alarm history (ALARM > HISTORY) to identify the program number if displayed.

  2. 2

Search for O-code addresses at the beginning of the program. Verify format is O#### (e.g., O1234) with no spaces, letters, or special characters between O and the number. Check parameter 3107#0 (8-digit program number) to confirm valid range: 1-9999 if #0=0, or 1-99999999 if #0=1.

  3. 3

Check for orphaned O addresses or O codes with spaces before the number (e.g., 'O 1234' or 'O' on a separate line). Remove spaces and ensure the number immediately follows the O address.

  4. 4

If program was transferred via DNC or USB, verify file encoding is ASCII and check for hidden characters using LIST display on the control (PRGRM > LIST). Re-transfer program if corruption is suspected.

Check parameter 0000#0 (TV check) is set correctly for your system to prevent format errors during program input.

  • ·Control memory errors concurrent with 1014

Prevention

  • Always verify program format before transfer
  • Use consistent numbering schemes
  • Backup working programs before editing
  • Train operators on proper FANUC program format

Common Mistakes

  • Adding letters to program numbers (O1234A)
  • Including spaces after O or N addresses
  • Using decimal points in sequence numbers
  • Copying programs from non-FANUC systems without format conversion
