Siemens 840D 16422 - Channel block angle programmed repeatedly in the block

Channel block angle programmed repeatedly in the block

It is not allowed to program more than one rotation angle THETA for the orientation in one block. The angle of rotation can either be programmed explicitly with THETA or by programing with Euler angles or RPY angles.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • THETA angle programmed simultaneously with Euler angles (A2, B2, C2) in the same NC block
  • THETA angle programmed simultaneously with RPY angles in the same NC block
  • Multiple THETA commands in a single block due to macro expansion or subroutine call
  • Incorrect post-processor output generating conflicting orientation commands
  • Manual programming error combining rotation angle specification methods

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the NC code at block %2 and verify only one orientation specification method is used: either THETA alone, OR Euler angles (A2, B2, C2), OR RPY angles, but not multiple methods in the same block
  2. 2Check for macro expansions or subroutine calls that may be inserting additional THETA commands; trace the full expanded code to identify redundant orientation specifications
  3. 3Verify post-processor configuration is correctly configured to output only one orientation method per block; compare generated code against CAM software output settings
  4. 4Edit the NC program to consolidate orientation commands into separate blocks if multiple rotation angle methods are required for the part program
  5. 5Simulate the corrected program in the control's program test mode to confirm the alarm no longer appears
