Siemens 840D 12475 - Channel block invalid G function number programmed

Channel block invalid G function number programmed

A non-allowed G function number (parameter 3) has been programmed for a G group with indirect G code programming. Only the G function numbers indicated in the Programming Guide "Fundamentals", Section 12.3 "List of G functions/Path conditions" are allowed.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • G function number not supported by the machine tool configuration or control software version
  • Incorrect G code syntax in the NC program due to manual programming error
  • Indirect G code programming used with an unsupported G function outside the allowed list
  • Machine parameter configuration restricting certain G functions for safety or operational reasons
  • Part program generated by CAM software contains non-standard G codes not compatible with 840D/828D

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the NC program at the specified block number and identify the invalid G function number in parameter 3
  2. 2Consult the Programming Guide Fundamentals Section 12.3 to verify the G function is in the allowed list for indirect G code programming
  3. 3Check machine parameter settings (P-series) related to G function restrictions and available motion groups
  4. 4Verify the control software version supports the programmed G function; update if necessary
  5. 5Correct the NC program by replacing the invalid G code with an allowed alternative or rewrite using direct G code syntax if applicable
  6. 6If using CAM-generated code, validate post-processor settings match 840D/828D specifications and reprocess the part program
