KUKA Robot KRC0883 - NESTING DEPTH EXCEEDED 2219

NESTING DEPTH EXCEEDED 2219

The nesting depth of function or procedure calls has exceeded the maximum allowed level (2219). This occurs when KRL program objects call each other in a chain that is too deeply nested, exceeding the system's stack capacity for nested calls.

Common Causes

  • Recursive function calls without proper termination condition
  • Excessive chain of function calls (A calls B, B calls C, C calls D, etc.) that reaches maximum depth
  • Circular or mutual recursion between multiple program objects
  • Missing or incorrect loop termination logic causing infinite recursive calls
  • Complex modular program structure with too many sequential nested function invocations

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the call stack and identify where the nesting depth limit is being exceeded using the KRC debugger
  2. 2Check all recursive functions for proper base case conditions and termination logic
  3. 3Refactor deeply nested function calls into iterative loops or flat sequential calls where possible
  4. 4Reduce the number of intermediate function calls by consolidating related operations into fewer functions
  5. 5Verify that no circular dependencies or mutual recursion exist between program objects
  6. 6Consult KUKA documentation for the maximum nesting depth limit and rewrite the program logic to stay within safe margins
