KUKA Robot KRC0795 - NOT ALLOWED EXPRESSION AFTER RETURN INSTRUCTION 2131

NOT ALLOWED EXPRESSION AFTER RETURN INSTRUCTION 2131

This alarm occurs when the KRL compiler detects code statements or expressions placed after a RETURN instruction within a function or subroutine. The RETURN instruction terminates execution and exits the program object, making any following code unreachable. This is a syntax error that prevents the program from compiling successfully.

Common Causes

  • Code statements written below a RETURN instruction in the same code block
  • Incomplete removal of code during program editing or refactoring
  • Misplaced RETURN instruction that was intended to be elsewhere
  • Missing or incorrect control flow structure (IF/ELSE/LOOP) around the RETURN
  • Copy-paste errors resulting in duplicate or orphaned code after RETURN

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Open the KRL source file and locate the line number indicated in the alarm message
  2. 2Identify the RETURN instruction and review all code statements that appear after it
  3. 3Delete or relocate any unreachable code that follows the RETURN instruction
  4. 4Verify the program logic flow and ensure RETURN is placed at the intended exit point
  5. 5If multiple exit points are needed, use conditional statements (IF/ELSE) to control when RETURN executes
  6. 6Recompile the program to verify the syntax error is resolved
