Fanuc Alarm SV0001 - X-Axis Servo Overload
SV0001 alarm on X-axis indicates the servo amplifier has detected excessive motor current draw exceeding the overload threshold, triggering the motor protection circuit. This is typically caused by mechanical binding, excessive cutting loads, collision damage, improper servo parameters, or amplifier/motor degradation.
Fanuc Alarm SV0001 - X-Axis Servo Overload
Servo Overload 1
Motor or drive overload condition. The servo overload 1 has exceeded its rated current capacity and may be at risk of thermal damage.
Root Cause Summary
SV0001 alarm on X-axis indicates the servo amplifier has detected excessive motor current draw exceeding the overload threshold, triggering the motor protection circuit. This is typically caused by mechanical binding, excessive cutting loads, collision damage, improper servo parameters, or amplifier/motor degradation.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Power off and manually jog X-axis through full travel range. Check for tight spots, unusual resistance, grinding sounds, or binding indicating way damage or ballscrew issues.
Lock out main power before manual movement. Check for collision damage to axis components.
Navigate to DIAGNOSIS > SERVO and monitor D0300 (X-axis servo load meter) during manual movement. Normal unloaded travel should read 0-15%. Values above 30% during free movement indicate mechanical problem.
Check D0420 (X-axis disturbance torque) in real-time during movement. Excessive or spiking values indicate mechanical resistance or ballscrew contamination requiring inspection.
Inspect X-axis way surfaces, ballscrew, and coupling for damage, metal chips, coolant contamination, or inadequate lubrication. Clean and re-lubricate per OEM specifications if contaminated.
